Editors rank year’s top stories differently than readers
This shows me how out of touch the people who make editorial decisions at mainstream media outlets are with their audiences. Sure, there’s an element of media wanting to provide news that’s important even if readers don’t care about the topic. But I think there’s too much condescension towards the public and an attitude of “we know what’s good for you” that drives media companies’ decisions. That’s why people have been turning away from newspapers since the 1970s.
